MY PERSONAL CHILDHOOD WEB
Five individuals who nurtured and cared for me as a child consist of : My mother, father, Aunt Louise , Aunt Clasrissa and my sister Carmen.
My mother who has almost been gone from my life physically for five years is the single most influential person in my life. My mother cared and nurtured me like I was the only person on earth. She was more than just my mama she was my friend , confidant and everything she ever done or said to me still resides in me as I raise my own family.
My father , or daddy as I like to call him has been out of my life for almost four years now and still remember how I was always daddy's little girl. Even after I got married he was still my protector, always looking out for his baby girl.
My Aunt Louise, or Lele as I called her was my grandmother's twin sister, (my grandmother died before I met her) and my surrogate grandmother. Lele taught me so much, how to cook, clean. We would often watch her "stories" (soap operas) together. I'm still influenced by her cooking and cleaning styles.
My Aunt Clarissa was like a second mom to me. I use to watch her get ready for her dates before she got married and marvel at her style. She was always very nurturing and loving toward me.
My sister Carmen , who is 7 years older than me, has always been protective and loving toward me. Although at times as most siblings have, we argued but never anything lasting. As youngster she would do my hair , take me shopping and "show" me off to her friends.
Hi Vanessa! I can resonate with your mother being your friend. I find it amazing that once I hit a certain age and certain maturity level, she became my confidant, my friend, and my number one go to person. Though your mother is no longer physically with you, there is so much that she left behind within you! I enjoyed reading about the influences in your life.
